Galanthus nivalis
Looking at a carpet of shimmering snowdrops on a sunny day signifies that spring has arrived. Snowdrops are classic winter flowers there are many varieties and forms to choose from for maximum impact, plant in large clumps. Snowdrops grow well in moist fertile soil under deciduous trees and shrubs and can easily be naturalised.
Galanthus S Arnott
Have large flowers which have a honey and vanilla scent, elliptical outer petals and inner petals have a bold arch like mark on the tips.
Primula vulgaris
Primroses are some of the earliest spring flowers to open with pale yellow scented flowers, these are ideal for a wild garden by naturalizing in drifts.
Abeliophyllum distichum
White forsythia, this shrub has white delicate blossom which is strongly almond scented, excellent to grow up a sunny sheltered wall in a well drained soil.
Lonicera x purpusii
Winter honeysuckle – rounded shaped twiggy shrub with white flowers, to benefit from its amazing scent plant near to a house or pathway that you regularly walk by.
Hamamelis
Witch hazel – Citrus scented spidery flowers are carried on bare leafless branches; hamamellis come in a choice of colours from yellow, orange and red varieties.
